So as the summer draws to a close I’d like to take a moment and salute that age-old summer tradition that brings families together while simutaneously tears them apart… the summer roadtrip. Here are the five greatest, in my humble opinion. (In no particular order)
National Lampoon’s Vacation (1983)
This 80’s John Hughs classic gave the world WallyWorld, the girl in the Ferrari (Christie Brinkley), and undeniable proof that Chevy Chase was once funny. All he wants to do is make his family happy and give them a good vacation. Is that too much to ask?
Thelma & Louise (1991)
Susan Sarandon and Geena Davis go lie, cheat, and steal as they drive across the south on the run from their husbands and the cops. Not even a cliff with a 100 ft. drop off can stop them.
The Sweetest Thing (2002)
Who says girls can’t be raunchy? Cameron Diaz and Christina Applegate might beg to differ. In “Sweetest Thing” they travel to find Mr. Right and encounter lots of maggots, glory holes, and ridiculousness along the way.
